DOH EXECOM INAUGURATES ZAMBOANGA CITY MEDICAL CENTER’S OPERATING ROOM AND CANCER AND RADIOTHERAPY CENTER

Department of Health executive committee members led by Undersecretary Teodoro Herbosa, Assistant Secretaries Romulo Busuego, and Paulyn Ubial, inaugurate the operating room and cancer and radiotherapy center of the Zamboanga City Medical Center. The new state-of-the-art operating facility, under the leadership of Dr. Romeo Ong, is the future in cancer care, treatment and management. Also in photo are DOH Head Executive Assistant Dr. Jaime Lagahid and Center for Health Development-Zamboanga Peninsula Director Dr. Teogenes Baluma. (18 April 2012)

HEALTH FACILITIES ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM UPDATE

Upgrading facilities, along with skills development of healthcare workers, is a major component of the Department of Health’s “KalusuganPangkalahatan” program. Shown here is Health Assistant Secretary Roland Cortez reporting on the DOH’s Health FacilitiesEnhancement Program (HFEP) that 2013 HFEP proposals for infrastructure projects amounts to P10.9B while total proposals for equipment is pegged at P10.2B. Cortez also said that priority should be given to projects directly contributing to the attainment of the Millennium Development Goal, health facilities that were affected by disasters, and government anti-poverty programs. He also encouraged medical center chiefs to seriously consider Public-Private Partnership as a strategy to improve health facilities and medical/laboratory equipment.

MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO BEMONC/CEMONC FACILITIES TO ZANORTE

The Department of Health represented by Undersecretary David Lozada (4th from left) recently turned over several medical equipment to Zamboanga del Norte Governor Rolando Yebes (right) during the 5th National Staff Meeting held in Zamboanga. The equipment will be used in several BEMONC (Basic Emergency Maternal Obstetric and Newborn Care) and CEMONC (Comprehensive Emergency Maternal Obstetric and Newborn Care) facilities in Zamboanga del Norte. Some of the equipment include microscopes, ECG machines, Doppler instruments, weighing scales, cervical inspection sets, and even dental instruments.
